“For this is the message you heard from the beginning. We should love one another.” 1 John 3:11 (NIV)
The perfect example of love is God’s love for His people. As the songwriter wrote, ‘God’s love is so wide, we can’t go around it, so high we can’t get over it…’. We must come through the door.
God said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved…” (John 10:9 – NKJV). Anyone can mean the thief (Luke 23:39-43), murderer (Exodus 2:11-12), harlot (Joshua 6:25), blind (Isaiah 42:16), paralyzed (Luke 5:24-25), anyone with any condition, including you and me. That’s the love of Jesus. John 3:16 illustrates His undying love for us.
God had a friend named Job. One day, Job lost everything. Like some of you, he lost his children, material things, and livestock. He was a very wealthy man, so he lost a lot. He even lost some of his friends and got terribly sick. Yet, Job did not blame God. He bowed down and worshipped Him. Job understood He is the One who gives things (Job 1:1-22).
Sometimes, we lose everything in life. Nothing lasts forever except the Word of God (1 Peter 1:25). It remains and sustains. The Word of God is the love of God. Thus, His love is everlasting.
In the end, we saw how God blessed Job with twice as much as he had previously (Job 42:10-15). God has the power to bring supernatural deliverance and restoration from negative situations (Psalm 74-12). He hears prayers, and He sees tears (2 King 20:5). His love stretches from generation to generation (Psalm 100:5).
Finally, be careful when a situation arises, especially regarding whose advice you listen to. Job’s wife told him to curse God and die, but he rebuked her and worshipped God, the Loving One Who restores, the One we serve. Yes, God restores us once we remain faithful to Him.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for Your undying love towards me. Forgive me where I have failed You. Come into my heart. I’ll make You Lord and Saviour of my life. Help me not to turn away from You but to embrace Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.
